Rob de Krieger studied economy at the Free University of Amsterdam. He started his career in 1977 at the Ministry of Economic Affairs where he was responsible for the Development of the SME sector in general and the SME income Policy and Labour Market in particular.

From 1981 onwards Rob has been active in the field of Labour Market Policy. He worked respectively for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, the Dutch Labour Market Organisation and the Dutch Council for Employment and Income.

In those functions he was responsible for Labour Market Policy advice, including the development and implementation of subsidy arrangements. Furthermore, Rob initiated contracts with reintegration organisations and represented the Dutch Labour Market Organisation in EU and OECD programmes. Rob also was representing the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in the board of the Temporary Work Agency START.

Since 2012 Rob is working as an independent labour market expert.
